Harvard Law School will be holding the 9th Annual Harvard Lambda Legal Advocacy Conference: “Marginalization and Mobilization within the LGBT/HIV Community” on March 7, 2014. At this conference, CHLP's Legal Director, Ivan Espinoza-Madrigal, will address issues affecting marginalized groups within the LGBT/HIV communities, including people of color, undocumented immigrants, queer youth, and people living with HIV. This conference brings together a diverse mosaic of lawyers, scholars, activists, and multi-disciplinary experts to exchange ideas on building a more inclusive LGBT rights movement.
CHLP fights stigma and discrimination at the intersection of HIV, race, health status, disability, class, sexuality and gender identity and expression, with a focus on criminal and public health systems. As part of this work, we support movement building that amplifies the power of individuals and communities to mobilize for change rooted in racial, gender and economic justice. We do this through legal advocacy, high-impact policy initiatives, and creation of cross-issue partnerships, networks, and resources.
