CUNY School of Law held a panel discussion, titled "Criminalizing Behavior: HIV (de)Criminalization and Beyond," on February 18, 2015. As part of this workshop, Iván Espinoza-Madrigal, the Legal Director of The Center of HIV Law and Policy, explored how the law criminalizes LGBTQ people and those living with HIV. He also discussed reforms for changing laws and practices that target people based on their identity and health status.
The Center for HIV Law and Policy challenges barriers to the rights and health of people affected by HIV through legal advocacy, high-impact policy initiatives, and creation of cross-issue partnerships, networks, and resources. We support movement building that amplifies the power of individuals and communities to mobilize for change that is rooted in racial, gender, and economic justice.
