The Center for HIV Law and Policy (CHLP) will hold the Teen SENSE Sexual Health Advocacy 2014 New Jersey Convening on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the New Jersey Alliance for Children, Youth, and Families (NJACYF) in Hamilton, New Jersey. The Convening will bring together providers from across New Jersey to help develop a proposed draft policy on sexual and reproductive health care for youth involved with the New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF).

The Convening will include a presentation on our Teen SENSE efforts in New Jersey, and an update on the work of the Young Urban Advocates, our Youth Advocacy Corps participants from Tri-City Peoples Corporation in East Orange, New Jersey. The Young Urban Advocates are receiving advocacy skills training to prepare them to meet with DCF officials later this summer to communicate the need for comprehensive, LGBTQ-inclusive sexual and reproductive health services and programming for young people involved with DCF.

The Convening will also serve as an opportunity for providers to weigh in on specific provisions of the proposed draft policy based on their experience and expertise serving LGBTQ youth, youth from low-income backgrounds, and youth with special needs.

The Teen SENSE Sexual Health Advocacy 2014 New Jersey Convening is tomorrow, Wednesday, July 16, 2014, 10am – 1pm, at NJACYF at 1800 E. State St., Suite 152, in Hamilton, New Jersey. It is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend. For more information or to RSVP, contact Adrian Guzman at 212-430-6733 or [email protected].
