CHLP Executive Director Catherine Hanssens to Receive the John Falkenberg Lifetime Achievement Award

Since 2008, SMART acknowledges extraordinary individuals who have dedicated their life’s work to improving the health and lives of others at its annual event.  Each year, SMART recognizes those who have fought for human rights, social justice and policy change. The first recipient of the “SMART Lifetime Achievement Award,” John Falkenberg, passed away a year ago. He was the gold standard who exemplified the criteria SMART looks for in past, present and future award recipients. To pay tribute to John SMART  is renaming the award in his memory. This year’s recipient is a long-time community partner and SMART Advisory Board member, Catherine Hanssens, Executive Director/Founder of The Center for HIV Law and Policy.
