CHLP Congratulates 2026 Gleason/Kettel Summer Law Fellow Madina Tabesh

CHLP congratulates summer intern Madina Tabesh for being awarded a 2026 Gleason/Kettel Summer Law Fellowship from the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law. The fellowship provides support for a law student or recent graduate to work in the field of sexual orientation and gender identity law and public policy.

Madina is entering her third year at Rutgers Law School, where her legal interests focus on the intersection of healthcare, data privacy, and civil rights. Before law school, she worked in public health marketing and served as a Global Health Corps Fellow from 2016–2017, gaining experience addressing systemic health inequities and advancing health justice.

"I am excited to contribute to CHLP’s public health law initiatives this summer by conducting rigorous legal research and policy analysis,” said Madina. “This opportunity will allow me to analyze regulatory frameworks, challenge systemic inequities, and develop effective legal strategies that safeguard the rights and dignity of vulnerable communities."

The Gleason/Kettel Summer Law Fellowship is designed to inspire future leaders in LGBTQ+ law and policy by providing hands-on experience with organizations and scholars working to advance equity and rights for LGBTQ+ communities. Through the fellowship, students deepen their understanding of the field while contributing meaningful support to advocacy, research, and policy initiatives.
