CHLP and Tri-City People’s Corporation’s Young Urban Leaders to Kick Off Youth Advocacy Corps Series in East Orange, NJ

The Center for HIV Law and Policy (CHLP) and the Young Urban Leaders program at Tri-City People’s Corporation will kick off a Youth Advocacy Corps series this Thursday, May 1, 2014. The series will include training sessions, workshops, and guest speakers to help youth participants develop an advocacy campaign culminating in meetings with the New Jersey Department of Children and Families to ensure that young people in foster care have access to comprehensive, LGBTQ-inclusive sexual health care. Tri-City’s Young Urban Leaders program facilitates the social development of at-risk youth through socialization and life-skill training, group counseling, and social, cultural, and recreational activities for young men and women ages 13 to 18. It is one of several youth programs at Tri-City, which has been providing services to low-income and disadvantaged people in Newark and surrounding areas since 1966.
