CHLP attorneys Jada Hicks and Sean McCormick join New Moon Network for a Spokes Hub training for people with lived experience in the sex trade.

This session will examine the shortcomings of HIV decriminalization advocacy, with a focus on how sex workers and other heavily policed communities are often tokenized, excluded, or erased in reform efforts. They will explore how anti-sex work stigma, discomfort with sexuality, transphobia, and classism shape coalitions, advocacy strategies, and the laws themselves.

Drawing from examples in Pennsylvania, Florida, Tennessee, and Indiana, this class on decriminalizing HIV and other stigmatized health conditions will challenge the dominance of legislative-first approaches and uplift broader abolitionist strategies to dismantle HIV criminalization.

This 90-minute session starts at 1pm PT / 2pm MT/ 3pm CT / 4pm ET on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 and is only for people with lived experience in the sex trade.
