OUTMemphis Case Update: A Community Town Hall on Using the ADA to Challenge HIV Criminalization
The first lawsuit using the Americans with Disabilities Act to challenge HIV criminalization, OUTMemphis v. Skrmetti, survived an attempt to dismiss the case earlier this spring. We are gathering community for a town hall discussion with the OUTMemphis legal team to hear about the decision and its impact on the HIV decriminalization movement.
We invite all people impacted by HIV, including people without legal or policy backgrounds, to take part in the conversation with advocates and attorneys from CHLP, ACLU, Transgender Law Center, and the U.S. PLHIV Caucus.
The first portion will include an overview of the case, and the second section will pose questions to legal and policy advocates working to end HIV criminalization. There will be an opportunity for audience members to ask questions of the panelists as well.
