Beurre Roux: Liberated Futures Assembly

CHLP Executive Director S. Mandisa Moore-O'Neal will be joining Interrupting Criminalization's Andrea Ritchie and others for a conversation about criminalization and surveillance at the morning plenary of the Beurre Roux Liberated Futures Assembly. This day-long political education and praxis intensive will begin with this political education session on the state of criminalization and surveillance, anticipated threats to bodily autonomy, freedom and wellbeing, and experiments in community defense. The discussion will include an overview of legislative threats to bodily autonomy and freedom as well as current community projects to keep people safe. 

The afternoon will allow for deeper engagement in skill-up and application–design thinking groups broken out into issue areas and organizing work impacted by criminalization and surveillance, including sex work, public health, immigration, reproductive justice, climate justice, and more. 

Founded in 2024, Beurre Roux is a New Orleans-based reproductive justice organization focused on building capacity, sustainability, and cross-movement organizing through community education and moving resources towards collective liberation. Beurre Roux makes an impact in New Orleans through the application of the organizing principles of abolition, reproductive justice, and Black feminist theory.
