This letter, drafted by the Center for HIV Law and Policy and signed by many Positive Justice Project members, addresses the lack of language about HIV criminalization in the proposed letters from the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS' (PACHA's) to President Obama and to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS) priorities. This letter and attached data points out the oversight and proposes additional language to remedy that. A motion to amend PACHA's letter to prioritize HIV criminalization in language tracking that proposed by PJP was introduced and approved unanimously at PACHA's Aug. 2, 2011 meeting.
The Center for HIV Law and Policy is a national resource and advocacy organization working to advance the rights of people affected by HIV. We combine an online HIV Policy Resource Bank, a creative national advocacy agenda, and case assistance focused on systems and institutions with significant impact on marginalized communities.
