CHLP's Jazz in June, 2009: A Huge Success!

On June 4, 2009 the Center for HIV Law and Policy held its first fundraising event, Jazz in June: An Evening With Uri Caine.

A standout piano concert by the legendary Grammy-nominated jazz composer and performer Caine, terrific food provided by Flossie & McKinley, a beautiful arrangement of flowers by Ariston Florist and a successful art and collectibles silent auction.

"The night was a total success. The setting was beautiful, the crowd was fun and it was a privilege to have Uri's amazing performance," said CHLP Executive Director Catherine Hanssens. "Most importantly, we exceeded our fundraising goal and raised money and awareness for our mission: to support and expand advocacy to end discrimination against people living with HIV." Because virtually every aspect of the event was donated by supporters of CHLP, more than 98% of the proceeds went directly to funding the Center's advocacy work.

CHLP thanks all its generous supporters including contributors: Kiehl's, MAC Cosmetics, Sirius Satellite Radio, Ariston Florist and particularly Veronica Hanssens (whose donated etchings raised > $2000).  Thanks also to the hard-working staff members and all of its charming and talented volunteers for making our debut event a huge success!  We hope to see you all again at Jazz in June II.
