Two Great CHLP Resources get a Makeover!!!

The Center for HIV Law and Policy (CHLP) has updated two resources that could be helpful to HIV anti-discrimination advocates and attorneys representing PLWH. Together with the HIV Medicine Association (HIV MA), CHLP updated the Sample Expert Statement on HIV Transmission Risk describing in more detail the ways in which HIV is and isn't transmitted. A list of resources that support the declarations in the statement has been appended to the affidavit.

CHLP also updated When Sex is A Crime and Spit is a Dangerous Weapon: A Snapshot of HIV Criminalization in the United States. It includes a map of states with HIV-specific criminal statutes, reported prosecutions, and states that have prosecuted people for HIV exposure or non-disclosure under general criminal laws such as reckless endangerment. This resource also includes a discussion section addressing the human rights and public health consequences of HIV criminalization.
