On April 11, 2016, CHLP Co-Director Allison Nichol, along with other members of the LGBT Criminal Justice Federal Working Group met with members of the Domestic Policy Council at the White House. Co-Director Nichol raised the need for the Federal Bureau of Prisons to change its longstanding policy of not allowing condoms in its facilities. In addition, she briefed the Council on both CHLP and the LGBT groups work on creating opportunities to increase sexual health literacy for inmates at BOP facilities.
The Center for HIV Law and Policy challenges barriers to the rights and health of people affected by HIV through legal advocacy, high-impact policy initiatives, and creation of cross-issue partnerships, networks, and resources. We support movement building that amplifies the power of individuals and communities to mobilize for change that is rooted in racial, gender, and economic justice.
