CHLP Staff Attorney Adrian Guzman to Serve on HIV Health & Human Services Planning Council of New York (2012)

Adrian Guzman, staff attorney at the Center for HIV Law and Policy was selected to serve a three-year term on the HIV Health & Human Services Planning Council of New York. The Planning Council sets priorities for the allocation of federal funds awarded to the New York City metropolitan area under the Ryan White Treatment and Modernization Act. In 2012, New York City was awarded $120 million to distribute to HIV-related health and human services, including core medical and support services.

"I am thrilled to have been selected to serve on the Planning Council and look forward to advocating on behalf of New Yorkers living with HIV," said Guzman. "Even though more and more people with HIV are becoming eligible for health coverage under the Affordable Care Act, Ryan White continues to address gaps in coverage and provide access to much-needed supportive services like housing, case management, psychosocial support, and legal services. It is crucial that we maintain these funds to ensure the health and well-being of New Yorkers with HIV."
