CHLP Staff Attorney Adrian Guzman was appointed Chair of the Policy Committee of the HIV Health & Human Services Planning Council of New York for the 2013 – 2014 cycle. The Planning Council develops spending priorities and allocates Ryan White CARE Act Part A funds based on the needs of people with HIV in the New York City metropolitan area. The Policy Committee ensures that the Planning Council is informed of and responds to emerging federal, state, and local HIV-related policy concerns, and develops recommendations as needed. Policy Committee members are drawn from members of the Planning Council, advocacy groups, and communities affected by HIV.

“I am thrilled to have been appointed to chair the Policy Committee, and look forward to working with this year’s members to monitor and help navigate the changing landscape of health care for people with HIV,” Guzman said. “Our work will not be easy – the Planning Council continues to face budgetary constraints following last year’s nearly $18 million reduction in Ryan White funds – but I am confident members will rise to the challenge and ensure that the needs of New Yorkers with HIV are met to the greatest extent possible."

The next HIV Health & Human Services Planning Council of New York meeting will be held on October 31, 2013, at 3 PM, at Cicatelli Associates, 505 Eighth Avenue, 20th floor, Manhattan.
